Dear Diary Farmers Markets are...AWESOME

Okay this was in San Francisco not Atlanta but still!
But I am too poor to enjoy them all the time!  The other day I was driving around exploring my new adopted city.   I saw a sign that said Green Market.  It was a farmer’s market that was located at Piedmont Park.  So after circling around like National Lampoon’s European Vacation when they were stuck in the roundabout and kept seeing Big Ben, I finally found a parking space.   The Farmer’s Market was so nice with its fresh vegetables and fruits and hydroponics…no dudes not that kind of Dro.  Yeah they had so much to choose from.  This is the best way to support your local city by purchasing local produce and even meats.  But we know the problem, it’s SO DARN EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!  Is it really though in the long run?  Look at those TOMATOES...

If you eat good fresh food in the long run it's not expensive in the long run.  Jonathan and I watched the movie Food Inc and in that documentary was an interview with a truck driver who was diabetic.  His family could only afford the dollar menu at McDonald's because it was cheaper then getting fruits and vegetables.  But wait for it he spent 600 bucks on medicine a month!  Type 2 Diabetes can be monitored with proper diet and exercise.  Maybe he will always need his medicine no matter what but he may not need as much if he ate better and exercised.   I always remember my weight watcher's group leader telling us that she has high blood pressure.  She is fit and eats well but she still needs her high blood pressure meds; her doctor told her she will always need her medication no matter what but since she is in shape she doesn't need as much medication only the minimal amount.  So yes Farmer's Markets are expensive but that dollar menu item at McDonald's is it really a dollar when it could lead to health problems.  Look not everyone will get health problems eating McDonald's everyday like this freak.  But most of us will...okay definitely me since my genes are set to either get Diabeetus and or Heart Disease.  My mom spends 300 bucks a month (that's after insurance covering it!) for her diabeetus medicine and my dad's triple bypass was oh let's see over 100,000.00(that was over 10 years ago).  So yeah does spending 5.99 a lb on tomatoes sound so expensive after all.

makes sense, its less expensive in the long run to eat healthy....i've started thinking of it as an INVESTMENT in my health.

glad you are finding fun stuff to do in your new city!

Okay, when you break it down in those terms maybe $150 for boot camp isn't that much...

Crap.

You can do this!
